Itzhak Brook was a battalion physician in the Yom-Kippur War and he wrote his book about his experience in that war. He currently a professor of pediatrics in Georgetown University in Washington DC.

Itzhak Brook was a battalion physician of the supply battalion of the 162 Armor division of General Adan "Bren" in The Yom-Kippur War. The book he wrote was published in 2011 and is called "In the Sands of Sinai: A Physician's Account of the Yom Kippur War." This book recounts his personal experiences as a battalion physician. Expecting to heal his soldiers’ physical combat wounds, he had to address his soldiers’ psychological battlefield trauma. It describes how he coped with his soldiers’ medical and psychological issues, the daily struggle of survival in the battle zone, and everyone’s growing anxiety.
He created a website for the book and his experiences. His book can be read (free) on this website through a link. It also has information on him, pictures of his medical unit and about him during the war.
