Preserving the legacy of armor for future generations
The Yad La-Shiryon Archive is a national treasure of historical knowledge and documentation relating to the heritage of Israel’s Armored Corps, its history, the battles in which it fought and the people who have shaped its path since the establishment of the State of Israel.
Located in the historic Police Building in Latrun, the archive houses thousands of items, including documents, photographs, maps, books, newspapers, war diaries, memorial books, issues of the Armored Corps Journal, audio and video recordings, and information about tanks, armored fighting vehicles and military forces in Israel and around the world. Some of these materials are rare and hold significant historical value.
The archive also preserves personal collections and records left by soldiers and commanders, including biographies, testimonies, documents and personal objects that add a human and personal dimension to the broader story of the Armored Corps.

The archive works to preserve, catalog and digitize its materials, ensuring that the knowledge and heritage accumulated throughout the history of the Armored Corps are preserved for future generations. These materials are made accessible to the general public, researchers, students, educators, military personnel, families of the fallen and anyone seeking reliable, organized information or wishing to deepen their understanding of the Armored Corps’ heritage and its role in Israel’s national security.
By preserving these materials and making them accessible, the archive strengthens Yad La-Shiryon’s public and educational role and serves as a central resource for research, learning and remembrance.
